## Step 1: Gather Your Title
You'll need a clean title in your name. If you've lost your title, contact your state DMV for a duplicate. Most states require a title to legally sell a vehicle for scrap.
## Step 2: Remove Personal Belongings
Do a thorough sweep: check under seats, in the trunk, in the glove compartment, and any storage pockets. Don't forget GPS devices, phone chargers, or garage door openers clipped to visors.
## Step 3: Remove Your License Plates
In most states, your license plates stay with you, not the car. Return them to your DMV to avoid future liability.
## Step 4: Get Quotes from Multiple Junkyards
